Need more convincing? Here are 7 reasons why you should add a good balsamic vinegar to your diet today:
1. Improves Skin Health/ Complexion
Balsamic vinegar contains antimicrobial compounds, acetic acid, and antioxidants. When added to one’s diet these components can help to improve a person’s complexion over time.
2. Reducing Blood Sugar
When eaten as part of a meal balsamic vinegar helps to regulate blood sugar. One study indicated that vinegar could help create a blood sugar plateau for up to 5 hours following a meal. This study found that balsamic vinegar has an antiglycemic impact, which means an individual’s blood sugar will spike less drastically after a meal.
3. Promotes Healthy Digestion
The active compound found in balsamic vinegars is acetic acid, which contains probiotics that aid digestion. These probiotics help to promote good gut health and digestion while supporting the overall immune function.
4. Lowering Cholesterol
The antioxidants in balsamic vinegar help block toxic cells in the body that can raise cholesterol. Consuming balsamic vinegar can help to lower or maintain already low cholesterol levels. (If you’re looking to lower your cholesterol consider pairing your balsamic with a high quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil for even better results!)
5. Losing Weight
The probiotics in balsamic vinegar also helps to make a person feel full for longer. Some research states that people are more likely to consume fewer calories throughout the day when they add vinegar to their morning meal!
6. Reducing Acid Reflux
Balsamic vinegar can aid in reducing acid reflux or heartburn. Although it may seem counterintuitive, the introduction of more acid into the digestive tract helps to reduce reflux in many people.
7. Promoting Blood Circulation
Balsamic vinegar is a derivative of grapes, and many studies have found that grapes help to prevent platelets from building up in blood vessels, which may help prevent cardiac disease.
