Forget about those pumpkin spice lattes and FALL in love with cider again! This recipe is so easy to throw all the ingredients into your crockpot and come back to a delicious Apple Pear Cider that fills the whole house with the scent of fall!

Ingredients

  • 4 medium pears, any type
  • 4 medium apples, any type
  • 1 orange
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 2-3 slices of fresh ginger
  • 1 whole nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons whole cloves
  • 6 cups or 1.5 L filtered water
  • 1/4 cup honey (optional)
  •  1/2 cup AOOC Cinnamon Pear Balsamic or AOOC Cranberry Pear Balsamic

Directions

  1. Wash the apples, pears, and orange and cut them into quarters. Don’t worry about removing the stems, seeds and peels because you will strain it all out later. Place the fruit in the bottom of your slow cooker along with the cinnamon sticks, ginger slices, nutmeg, and cloves.
  2. Add the water to the crock pot making sure to leave about 1/2 inch of space at the top of the pot. Cook on high heat for 3-4 hours or on low heat for 6-8 hours.
  3. An hour before the cider is done cooking, use a potato masher to mash the fruit. Cook for another hour.
  4. Strain the cider through a fine-mesh strainer or cheese cloth into a clean pitcher or pot. Stir in the honey or your alternative sweetener (or leave this out and just sweeten with balsamic by the glass) until it is dissolved and serve hot or wait for it to cool.
  5. Pair with sparkling water and sweeten with more AOOC Honey Ginger or AOOC Cranberry Pear White Balsamic for an additional fun twist!
